AN VIRTUAL KEUBOARD BASED AUTOMATIC TELLERT MACHINE FOR SECURITY IMPROVEMENT
project center in Tirunelveli
An Automatic Teller Machine is a
globally useful technology for money transactions like withdrawal, deposit and
balance enquiry. The magnetic tape reader on an ATM is useful to recognize the
customer’s profile by reading the magnetic codes on his/her debit card. After
correctly giving the customer’s secreting PIN code, the account can be
accessible now. In computer security, shoulder surfing refers to using direct
observation techniques, such as looking over someone's shoulder, to get
information. It is commonly used to steal PIN. This project introduces a novel
technique for ATM debit card PIN security by incorporating an embedded system
based Virtual Keyboard technique. The main idea behind this concept is create
the virtual keyboard per single PIN digit. This keyboard is randomly generated
by Microcontroller and it is producing different set of key arrangements during
each PIN digit in order to avoid the shoulder surfing issue. The great
advantage of the project is the user’s PIN cannot be steal by an anonyms due to
the altering key per a single PIN digit. This project leads to a securable ATM
transaction by strengthening the confidentiality of the PIN.
